Deb's yoga motto for on and off the mat is... "Keep it real!"
Deb is a Senior Yoga teacher at the Yoga Room, teaching both general and private classes at the Yoga Room with enthusiasm and humour. She has been teaching classes and workshops across Sydney for many years and has been involved in teaching in both Bali and Japan .
Deb‘s background in Orthopaedic nursing drives her ongoing passion for anatomy and physiology in her yoga classes and underpins the safety and alignment of her students .
Deb has also completed the Yoga Therapy Certificate course, Meditation and Energy courses and has a past background in physical training to compliment her General yoga teacher training and uses these influences in both her General and Private Classes.
Deb is a chronic yoga researcher, utilizing influences from around the world in her ongoing commitment to educating students on their yoga journey, she is continually producing interesting articles, facts and figures that populate our noticeboard and provide us with handy hints we don’t often have time to ask or discuss in our general classes.
Deb is committed to educating students to ‘feel and get to know their’ bodies’ through breath and posture work in yoga, "so students aren’t just making shapes with their bodies without knowing what they are doing". Deb is also dedicated to showing students the importance of balance in their every day lives and how this starts ‘on the mat’.
Deb also teaches private one on one classes ranging from elite athletes needing yoga fine tuning for their training regimes, to students needing to take their yoga practice further or in need of a tailor made brush up on their poses and practice. Deb's private classes also include students with injuries or illnesses needing to learn how to adapt their yoga practice to their ‘current body’ or students new to yoga wanting a head start before they join in a group class.
