Over the last thirty years of regular practice, the wonderful, tangible benefits of yoga, breath focus and body awareness have become increasingly evident to Conny: these practices contribute significantly to balance in daily life.
BKS Iyengar was a strong early influence on Conny’s approach to yoga. But through engaging with teachers such as Judy Krupp, Donna Fahri, Rodney Yee, and through training in Qi Gong, Laban movement and Bartenieff movement fundamentals, Conny began to experience and explore the benefits of gentle movement and breath awareness.
Conny has worked in the field of education and holistic health for over three decades. Her passion for the significant contribution good movement, a healthy diet and increasing awareness of self can make towards a more balanced and rewarding experience of life has only strengthened and deepened.
Her work as a craniosacral therapist, incorporating kinesiology and myofascial release, informs her yoga classes significantly. Each class focuses on a particular metabolic theme, creating a conscious relationship between organs, connective tissue (fascia), muscles and breath. Conny also applies key principles of Traditional Chinese medicine in her classes, with movement and stretch sequences enhancing and balancing the health of one of our most significant connective tissue systems, the fascia.
Conny’s gentle movement classes are ideal for early beginners to yoga practice and for those restricted in their movement due to injury, or the consequences of long-established postural habits and patterns of stress and tension.
Her classes combine basic yoga postures with gentle and supportive movement and breath flow sequences. This combined practice improves flexibility, releases restriction and tension in the joints, stimulates circulation and gradually builds stability and strength. No previous experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome.
